More About My Clinical Training, Experience and Education...

About my clinical, research and academic training…

  • I completed my Ph.D. at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago through which much of my clinical training was obtained in inpatient and outpatient settings at Rush University Medical Center and Cook County Hospital where I focused on the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents and young adults.  Throughout, and since, my graduate training I have also worked as a clinician in a community mental health center, therapeutic day schools, residential treatment settings and hospital emergency rooms.  The diversity of the settings in which I have treated patients has afforded me the opportunity to build on my knowledge base of various disorders and interventions with individuals presenting with a range of difficulties.  I am trained and skilled in behavioral, cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic approaches to treatment.

  • I have earned a post-graduate certificate from the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis where I pursued advanced training in the Adult Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program.   The training I received in this program enhanced my understanding of the development and treatment of one's problems in a relational context.

  • My research experiences to date have allowed me to refine my clinical diagnostic skills and ability to effectively intervene with patients.  Throughout and since graduate school I have worked with adolescents and adults on research studies in the Department of Psychology at DePaul University, in the Clinical Neuroscience and Psychopharmacology Research Unit at The University of Chicago, in the Department of Psycho-Legal Studies at Northwestern University and, most recently, in the Asher Center for the Study and Treatment of Depressive Disorders at Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation.   As a clinician working on these studies, I have extensive experience conducting clinical evaluations, as well as ongoing assessments of study participants.  The studies on which I have worked have varied in their focus, including, but not limited to, trauma, aggression and depression.
